HUMBLE ORIGINS
Our founder, Rusty Curtis, was recently out of school and working for a financial corporation. Because of his heavy background in marketing and sales, he was able to pick up freelance clients. He worked out of his home office (in his closet!) to build the nascent company. As the clients started coming in, dentists stood out as the majority of leads and those who needed the most help.
DENTALCMO IS BORN
As it became clear that the business would focus on the dental industry, we decided to take on the name of DentalCMO — communicating that we could be the CMO for dental practices. Just like any company, we weren’t perfect and suffered from minor growing pains. However, our steadfast commitment to client support and responsiveness earned us the loyalty of our client base and a sterling reputation.
EXPANDING REACH
Referrals to us from other dentists increased and we found our selves growing rapidly. In a few short years we had clients in 5 countries and all 50 states. We have found that wherever there is people, they all have teeth and need a dentist. And wherever there is a dentist, they need help to better communicate the value of their services and attract their ideal patients. And THAT is where we help.
ALIGNING OUR BRAND UNDER LUMN
The dental industry is crowded and competitive. Though we have a great reputation, we didn’t feel that we were walking our talk when it comes to branding. We help our clients develop stellar brands to help them stand out in their markets… so we should do the same for us. We rebranded as LUMN (“Lumen” is Latin for “light”) to emphasize our uncommon gift for helping dentists “LIGHT UP their markets” by shining in a dark, competitive landscape.
